Freedom from Hip Pain. A New Beginning in Movement.
The hip is one of the largest and most important joints in the body, enabling smooth movement while walking, standing, or sitting. However, conditions like osteoarthritis, avascular necrosis (AVN), rheumatoid arthritis, or traumatic injury can damage the hip joint over time, leading to severe pain, stiffness, and limited mobility. When conservative treatments fail, hip replacement surgery becomes the most effective way to restore function and quality of life.
At Kamakshi Orthopedics, located in Chaitanyapuri, Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad, we provide total and partial hip replacement using the latest surgical techniques and implant technologies. Under the expert care of Dr. Ashwin Reddy, our team is committed to helping patients walk again—confidently and pain-free.
What is Hip Replacement?
Hip replacement surgery, also called hip arthroplasty, involves replacing the damaged parts of the hip joint with artificial implants. The natural ball-and-socket joint is reconstructed using durable materials like metal, ceramic, or polyethylene, allowing for smoother, pain-free movement.
Types of Hip Replacement:
Total Hip Replacement (THR): Both the femoral head (ball) and the acetabulum (socket) are replaced.
Partial Hip Replacement: Only the femoral head is replaced—usually done in specific fracture cases or elderly patients.
Bilateral Hip Replacement: Both hips are replaced, either in a single or staged surgery.
When is Hip Replacement Recommended?
You may be advised to undergo hip replacement if you experience:
Persistent hip or groin pain while walking, sitting, or lying down
Limited hip movement or difficulty bending, squatting, or climbing stairs
Limping or leg length discrepancy due to joint collapse
Pain that doesn’t improve with medication, injections, or physiotherapy
Diagnosis of advanced AVN, osteoarthritis, or joint deformity

Recovery and Rehabilitation
Most patients begin walking with support on the same or next day after surgery. A structured physiotherapy plan helps regain motion, strength, and function quickly.
Rehabilitation Goals:
Early mobilization and weight-bearing
Restoration of joint movement
Muscle strengthening and balance training
Education on joint care and long-term precautions
By 6–8 weeks, most patients resume daily activities comfortably. Full recovery may take up to 3–6 months, depending on age and fitness levels.
